PLAN

The health and safety policy should include:
– Signed statement by Headteacher and chair of Governor.
– Responsibilities section.
– General arrangements for Health and safety.
● Health and Safety part of a committee for example Finance and Premise committee or Full Governing body. See Health and Safety Committee guidance.
● It is recommended that the school appoints a Health & Safety Governor to champion Health and Safety.
DO
Have in place good building management records.

Provision and Use of Work Equipment

● Planned preventative maintenance schedule in place. See Work Equipment section.

● Monitoring of health and safety:

ACT
● Health and Safety Reports to Governors/trustees (termly) See Audit, Inspection and monitoring section.
The report should include:
Accident statistics including trend analysis
Key Health and Safety risks such as fire
Visits from enforcement officers. See enforcement officer guidance.
Key findings from any reports
● Act on any reports for example legionella risk assessment.
Membership needed for download
