Smoking has been banned in enclosed public places the UK since 1st July 2007.
For schools smoking is banned for staff, visitors including parents on the whole school site and this includes the playground and all its grounds.
Staff wishing to smoke should do so on their break and go off site.
In recent years vaping has become a popular alternative to cigarettes.
Schools should have a No Smoking and Vaping policy statement and include this in the documents:-
● Staff handbook
● Lettings policy
In addition display “no smoking signage” near the entrance to the main school.
